Vesa Kivinen produces various mixed media works by taking photographs of his oil and body-paintings as well as images from nature. The digital collages are then printed onto high end diasec, canvas, re-painted canvas and poster prints.
Vesa is best known for his collaboration with the Bollywood actress Veena Malik which was seen by around 300 million people all over the world through BBC World, The Independent, IBT, Times of India etc.
“Vesa’s art is amongst the most integrally advanced in the history of Western abstraction – no small claim, but one backed up by the works themselves. Rather than abstraction as a fleeing from life, his works are a diving into the incarnate mystery of human being — direct celebrations of the fullness of Life.”
— Michael Schwartz, Professor of History and Philosophy of Art, Augusta State University, March 2014
It is an extraordinary privilege to be working through this completely new form. Most of us want to leave some sort of a legacy or be involved with something unique. I found my place in the world, through innovating Artevo, when I was 29, after a lot of searching and faith in it all coming together. It did and the work is now making waves on a global scale.
Improving on the craft of art and constant evolution on a personal level are high values in my life, so art evolving, from which the term Artevo comes from, sums it up well. The process includes oil painting, bodypainting, photography and many other traditional art forms but most importantly it is a new way of telling compelling stories in a seemingly static medium. These images live and grow with you from year to year, decade to decade, allowing you to transform your perception of the piece as you move and expand in your life.
